Would your club or company like to bring out its own publication? Does your club or association wish to publish a small number of copies of its handbook, yearbook or similar? Does your company wish to present its staff and customers with a history of the firm? Or to produce a professional ‘welcome pack’, for example? Such a publication can prove expensive if it has to be printed by conventional means for which print runs of about thousand copies are needed to bring down the unit cost to a sensible level. However, if the numbers required are below about 600 we can usually produce such books much more cost effectively. A workable and economic number is 50 but we do anything from 1 upwards. If you wish to reprint a second time, costs come down as the electronic formatting has already been done. What is an economic number of pages? It doesn’t matter how many pages there are. Our own books range from 48 to over 800 pages. How can I do this as cheaply as possible? The lowest cost cover contains text only and no colour. Currently, in our opinion,colour cannot be done economically for short print-runs. Technically it is possible, but costs per page are about 60 times the costs of a black-and-white page. So how do we get the publication off the ground? You provide the text in electronic format, the cover design and illustrations. We do all the technical bits.
